Joanne Suder $800 Million Dollar Suit
Lawyer won’t drop phone (suit): Despite a federal ruling that tossed out a suit claiming frequent cell-phone use caused one man’s brain tumor, his attorney isn’t giving up.
Joanne Suder, who filed the high-profile $800 million lawsuit against the cell-phone industry on behalf of Maryland doctor Christopher Newman and bashed wireless companies on Larry King Live and elsewhere, said she believes she can still make a case.
In Newman’s case, Suder and other attorneys claimed that the malignant tumor behind Newman’s right ear was caused by frequent cell-phone use. On Monday, District Judge Catherine C. Blake ruled that there was not enough evidence to take the case to trial.
In a statement released Monday afternoon, Suder said she is awaiting new evidence to file another lawsuit.
“New non-industry funded research is developing all the time,” Suder said. “Each new case will be decided on its set of facts and its own merits and by the testimony presented at the time.”
